Throughout the year Studio B runs a number of printmaking workshops. Visitors are introduced to the tools, terminology and equipment coupled with demonstrations relating to the different types of ink, paper and printing processes. We have one of the largest collection of letterpress type and equipment in Somerset and visitors are encouraged to get ‘hands on’ with both our wood and metal type, printing refined compositions alongside experimental type based works.

Our classes include hands-on instruction in letterpress printing and are an ideal opportunity for anyone who would like to acquire a practical knowledge of this traditional printing craft. We also offer workshops as part of occupational therapy – letterpress printing is ideal when developing and re-configuring hand / eye coordination and fine motor skills.
Participants experience the entire process, from composition (hand-setting type) to printing (inking and working the press).
Group size is set to a maximum of six and we always begin with a collaborative exercise, where each person contributes to a shared work. Once this is complete, individuals are free to produce their own work. You will be able to take away all of the work you have printed at the end of the day.
Please wear old clothes or bring an apron – ink can (and does) get everywhere! To book a place email: firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone: 01823 401 302
